Solar Construction Manager

$100,000 to $120,000 per year
Purpose: Responsible for construction and field activity, management, and oversight as owner’s representative for PV projects.
Position Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Act as owner’s representative in charge of site PV project; overseeing safety and quality control in every aspect of the construction projects
- Handle several projects at the same time
- Coordinate with existing facility solar project activities
- Supervise and inspect proper construction means and methods
- Responsible for implementing and overseeing the three phases (meeting, mockup, ongoing inspection) to ensure installation of superior quality PV system and QA/QC inspections of systems
- Identify quality-related issues during construction
- Ensure that the most recent specifications and compliance codes are followed
- Preparation of daily logs and weekly status reports
- Perform safety inspections
- Participate in process improvement meetings and integrate new processes/procedures in the field accordingly
- Drive QA/QC, Safety, and CM process
- Constantly report all safety, quality and environmental issues found at the job site
- Utilize different software for different purposes
- Perform Inspections during various inclement weather conditions; participate in and coordinate facilities’ electrical shutdowns
- Support other projects as needed
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Master Electrician or NABCEP Cert. highly preferred
- 5-6 years of Solar installation experience
- Rooftop solar, design & construction experience is necessary
- Familiar with small DG systems sizing 500KW to 10MW
- Any combination totaling 4 years from the following categories of experience:
- Work experience in solar PV installations, commercial building construction, remodeling, or tenant improvements
- College or vocational course work in construction project coordination, building construction, architecture, or closely related field
- 5-6 years of supervisory experience in a building construction trade
- Knowledge of all phases of building construction, including work commonly done by the various building crafts
- Knowledge of electrical, roofing, and structural systems
- Hands-on experience as a professional electrician in the solar industry is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of building materials, tools, and machines
- Supervisory ability
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications for building trades
- General computer, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under tight project timelines and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work independently with the ability to quickly resolve key project issues with little oversight
- High level of professionalism with attention to detail
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and Procore (preferred)
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Must have a valid and current driver’s license
- Ability to travel at least 75% of the time to project sites
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
Must be willing to travel to project sites in and around NJ/NY and the Northeast area.
