MAHWAH, N.J. — Core Development Group is continuing its commitment to help the less fortunate in local communities. For Veterans Day, the group made a donation to the Fuel Fund of Maryland, and for Thanksgiving it made a contribution to Eva’s Village community kitchen of New Jersey for essential food items.
In November, representatives from Core Development Group met with Debbie Brown, Chief Development Officer of Fuel Fund of Maryland, and made a donation to the fund’s Stars and Stripes program, its new initiative that provides specialized 1-on-1 navigational support of the home energy assistance process to veterans, active military members, and first responders.
“We are committed to giving back and helping people in the markets we serve,” said Henry Cortes, Founder and CEO of Core Development Group. “The Maryland Fuel Fund’s efforts are a great match for us, and they make a significant impact on individual lives. We find real meaning and reward by serving a higher purpose that aligns with our organizational values.”
Every winter people in Maryland face the difficult question of whether to give up heat in their homes to deal with temporary financial crises brought on by an illness, accident, or job loss. Since 1981, The Fuel Fund focuses on the essential energy needs of households for whom energy is unaffordable; it has helped hundreds of thousands of local homes keep their heat on while they get back on their feet.
Founded in 1982, Eva’s Village of Paterson, N.J., provides care for people struggling with poverty, hunger, homelessness, and addiction. The community kitchen – a nonprofit, comprehensive behavioral health and social service organization – serves more than 400 people per day. Additionally, three meals daily are prepared for the people that reside in Eva’s Village recovery and sheltering programs.
Cortes said he and his colleagues at Core Development Group enjoy supporting veterans and helping the community kitchen, and they are eager to engage in more philanthropic activities in the next year.
“We’ll also be working with Eva’s Village in the future to help them serve our communities and provide nutrition to vulnerable populations,” he said.
